PORT MIAMI – CRUISE TERMINALS AND ROPAX FACILITIES, MIAMI, FL

The scope of services includes general and Port and Waterway Systems planning, design, and post-design services. This encompasses upgrades to provisional operations; baggage conveyance systems; horizontal and vertical circulation systems; telecommunications; and operational and security enhancements, including port-wide checkpoints and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) processing areas and facilities. Additional services include access control, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), and all related infrastructure, buildings, and structures ancillary to the core work scope.

PORT OF MIAMI, CRUISE TERMINAL J, FIRE ALARM AND RELATED DEFICIENCIES UPGRADES, MIAMI, FL

Gartek designed a new addressable fire alarm system for the terminal, replacing outdated devices while reusing most existing wiring to reduce costs. New initiation, notification, and supervisory devices were added as needed, including visual devices on the ground and second floors. Additional devices required new wiring and conduit, and the design was coordinated with HVAC systems to address related deficiencies, including all necessary electrical design.

PBC CONVENTION CENTER – PARKING GARAGE, WEST PALM BEACH, FL

The project involved the design of a 9-level, 2,700-space parking garage, including one below-grade level, delivered under a CM at Risk approach. Our scope included full MEP/FP design in accordance with the Florida Building Code and PBC Design Guidelines. Electrical design covered power distribution, interior and exterior lighting, fire alarm, security/CCTV, IT infrastructure, and a diesel emergency generator for NEC 700/701 systems. Mechanical and plumbing design addressed ventilation, HVAC for ancillary spaces, potable water, sanitary, and stormwater systems. The fire protection system was designed as fully sprinklered with a fire pump, in coordination with the AHJ. Additional services included life cycle analysis, infrastructure for future expansion, and full design documentation with CSI-format specifications.

JUDICIAL CENTER PARKING GARAGE, WEST PALM BEACH, FL

Expansion and upgrades to an existing 94,000 SF, 2-level downtown parking structure increased capacity from 754 to 1,811 spaces to support the nearby Judicial Center. Phased construction ensured the facility remained fully operational throughout. Improvements included lateral strengthening to meet Category 5 hurricane and code requirements, along with upgraded lighting for improved maintenance and security.
