MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – NORTH TERMINAL DEVELOPMENT / BHS MODIFICATION TO THE INLINE CBIS, MIAMI, FL

Gartek provided Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering and design services for the multi-phase modification of the Inline Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) at Miami International Airport’s North Terminal Development (NTD). The scope included developing as-built documentation of the work area, reviewing the latest Test and Balance reports to confirm existing system performance, and coordinating with MDAD, project review consultants, and AHJs. Deliverables were produced using Autodesk Revit 2024 coordinated with Navisworks and other collaborative software, with technical specifications prepared in accordance with MDAD Guidelines.

FLL-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – TERMINAL 3 CBIS/BHS, FT. LAUDERDALE, FL

Design-Build project under a signatory agreement between JetBlue and Broward County for the modernization and expansion of Terminal 3 and Gate 1. Gartek provided electrical engineering design and consulting services for a new facility featuring an in-line baggage handling system (BHS) with a TSA Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS). The scope included electrical power, lighting, TELECOM/DATA, fire alarm design for ticket counters, transport and sortation conveyors, phased installation of BHS components and controls, upgrading power infrastructure with a new substation switchgear, and reworking electrical systems to accommodate new space layouts.

PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – CHECKED BAGGAGE INSPECTION SYSTEM DESIGN SERVICES, PALM BEACH, FL

Provided Electrical and Mechanical engineering design and consulting services as part of the team for an automated in-line baggage screening system at PBI, replacing the original 2002-era equipment. The new system eliminates manual lifting by TSA agents, aiming to reduce labor costs and injury risks. It relocates agents and EDS machines from the unconditioned baggage area to new climate-controlled spaces. The project includes full replacement of the outbound and inbound baggage conveyor systems, along with studies for potential lobby and ticket hall reconfiguration and renovation.
