Gartek
Engineering has extensive experience in electrical power distribution
with special emphasis in substation design. Our experience
encompasses design in low, medium, and high voltages to 230
kV. our experience in this field is derived from contracts
with Florida Power & Light Co., International Power Systems,
Inc., Asea Brown-Boveri, and others. Design in this specialized
field requires familiarity with relay protection schemes,
expertise in the preparation of short circuit and coordination
studies, and knowledge of state of the art equipment and devices
currently available in the market. Intimacy with protection
philosophies and redundancy requirements are paramount if
designs are to carry the desired reliability.
White
Street Substation, Key West, Florida
New Substation consisting of, two 25/33.3/41.67 kVA, 69-13.8
kV transformers; 6-feeder Metalclad Switchgear: two underground
feeders; two capacitor banks; ground grid study and ground
grid design; relay coordination study; relay settings; 69
kV underground getaway design including cable selection, schedule
of materials, calculations and field erection drawings. 13.8
kV underground main feed from transformer to switchgear including
cable selection, schedule of materials, conduit schedule and
calculations. All field remote cable schedules for AC and
DC circuits as well as current transformer connections. Site
lighting and temporary 69 kV and 13.8 kV circuits.
Satala
Power Plant, American Samoa
Switchgear replacement. $3M.
McMinn
Substation, Homestead, Florida
New feeder positions in existing 23 kV substation. New panel
remote wiring diagram and modifications required at mimic
board and feeder control board.
Mobile
Substation for Puerto Rico Authority (PREPA)
Turnkey project for design and assembly of 12 MVA, 115/38
- 8.32/4.16 kV Substation.
Coconut
Grove Substation, Coconut Grove, Florida
Removal of 4 kV section at substation and approximately 2
miles of 4kV feeders. Installed new 13.8 kV section at substation,
35,000 kVA transformer, and two feeders dedicated to the use
of the METRORAIL Rapid Transit System.
Juno
Beach Substation, Juno Beach, Florida
Increased transformer capacity by adding a third 30 MVA transformer,
added 13.8 kV feeder, bur-tie breaker and transformer low-side
motor operated vacuum load break switches. Upgraded relay
protection scheme to differential protection, extended 138
kV bus, added a third 138 kV pull-off structure and relocated
one 138 kV pull-off.
St.
Augustine Substation, St. Augustine, Florida
Conversion of 4 kV feeders to 13.8 kV operation, removal of
4 kV transformers and capacitor banks. Relocation of one 115
kV, 13.8 kV, 35 MVA transformer to provide firm capacity of
13.8 kV operating bus. Installation of 115 kV wave traps to
effectively prevent grounding of carrier signal through 115
kV capacitor banks. Upgrading of all 13.8 kV feeders for safety
purposes, relocated feeder pull-off and step-voltage regulators.
