Gartek was incorporated in 1980 to provide professional Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering Services. Our firm has three offices located in South Florida to better serve our clientele both locally and internationally.

In addition to MEP/FP Services for vertical structures our firm provides Energy Studies, Plan Review Services and Inspections. We also have the capability and experience to investigate, identify and solve various issues and problems with existing systems.

Our team of professional is led by Robert L. Betancourt, PE, LEED, AP, Mechanical Engineer of Record and President of the firm as well as Mel F. Garcia, PE, LEED, AP, Electrical Engineer of Record and Vice President. Both Mr. Betancourt and Mr. Garcia have over 30 years of experience as Professional Engineers and hold licenses in the State of Florida as well as the US Virgin Islands.  

For over 30 years clients have relied on Gartek to provide cost effective, functional designs that resolve existing issues or prevent future problems for their HVAC, Fire Protection, Plumbing, Electrical and Electronic Systems projects of varied types and complexities. Our philosophy emphasizes the integration of safety, energy efficiency, convenience, maintainability and environmental comfort taking into consideration the architecture elements and economics unique to each project.

Gartek is a certified DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise), MBE (Minority Business Enterprise), SBE (Small Business Enterprise) and CBE (Community Business Enterprise) as applicable for the State of Florida, FDOT, various airports, school boards, water districts, cities, towns, municipalities as well as other governmental agencies.
