Plants are upgraded for many reasons: as a result of increase
in load, to improve efficiency, and to replace aging equipment.
In most cases the facility must remain in operation during
the change-out. This presents special challenges to the designer
to develop a workable sequence of construction, allocate space,
and secure sufficient power (sometimes on a temporary basis)
that will allow installation and start-up, of the new equipment
while existing machinery continues to operate. This Section
indicates projects of such requirements.
