Overseas projects require knowledge of local codes plus familiarity with local conditions and requirements. Gartek engineers devote a significant amount of time securing relevant information and requirements prior to the start of design. Simplicity in design is the rule as in most cases local resources are limited and maintenance personnel have to make do with what is available. The following projects are representative of our experience:

- Global Crossings, South America Crossing, St. Croix, USVI. New submarine cable terminal facility. Self-sufficiency and redundancy in design. $14M.
- Old Bahama Bay Resort, Grand Bahama Island. Approximately 57,330 SF.
- Jolly Beach Resort. St. John’s, Antigua, BWI. Due-diligence report for Phase I and Phase II of mechanical/electrical/plumbing and fire protection systems assessment after hurricane damage.
- Government Center and Post Office Building, Port Purcell, Tortola, BVI. New Postal facility and Government Building. $14M
- Multi Purpose Sports Complex, Road Town, Tortola BVI. New air-conditioned multi-purpose arena of approximately 26,000 SF. Estimate construction cost $5M.
- Krum Bay Substation. St. Thomas USVI. Relocate generator.
- Motorola. Costa Rica, Centro America. Design of fire protection for 70,000 SF. manufacturing plant. $400K.
- Complejo Empresarial Grupo Pella, Managua, Nicaragua. Design of fire protection system. Approx. 540k SF office building, construction cost $30M.
- Mobile Substation for Puerto Rico Authority (PREPA). Turnkey project for design and assembly of 12 MVA, 115/38m – 8.32/4.16 kV Substation. $1.2M.
- Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, Carolina, Puerto Rico. Dual Midfield Taxiway and New South General Aviation Projects.
- Princess Juliana International Airport. St. Maarten, N.V. New terminal building of approx. 300,000 S.F. with an estimated construction cost of $50M. Gartek’s responsibility is mechanical design including smoke and humidity control. Approx. completion date 2006.
Half Moon Bay, Jamaica. Conversion of existing residence into a spa; conversion of six (6) existing suites into spa suites; infrastructure upgrades; back-of-house building engineering.

- New Offices for Ernst & Young at Camana Bay, Grand Cayman, BWI. Tenant improvements of 22,000 SF. office spaces.
- Savannah Commercial Center, Grand Cayman, BWI. New retail development consisting of seven buildings totaling approx. 38,000 SF.
- Maria’s Hotel, Tortola, BVI. New 44 rooms’ expansion in four floors and multi-purpose banquet hall.
- Scrub Island Marina Village, Tortola, BVI. Phase I and II. Phase I, Retail and Residential Buildings E/F, G, H, I/J, and K. Phase II, Welcome Center/ Restaurant.
- Port-Au-Prince, Haiti International Airport. Additions and expansion of AA Terminal Facilities.
- The Moorings, Tortola, BVI. New structures including Gazebo Bar/Dining Area, Seating Area, Retail Areas 1, 2, & 3, Reception/Lobby, Hotel Rooms A thru G, Massage rooms 1 & 2, Informal Outdoor Dining Area. Approx. 15,000sf.
- Riteways Supermarket and Office Building, Tortola, BVI. Two story building of 21,000 sq. ground floor supermarket and 14,500 sf. second floor office space.
- Pasea Business Continuity Center, Tortola, BVI. New 32,000 sf., three level office building.
- West Wind Building, Grand Cayman, BWI. Renovation and upgrade of existing four stories high building for retail, restaurant, and office space.
- Diageo Distillery, St. Croix, USVI. This project consists of a new multifaceted project encircling office building and cafeteria, barrel fill, lab buildings, and barrel warehouses for the approx. total of 132K SF.
